Bob Silverstein The Lifebridge Foundation P.O. Box 340, Roosevelt, NJ 08555 www.WeWantPeaceOnEarth.com www.People4Peace.net www.PeaceKidz.com www.oneday.net www.dreams4all.net www.Songs4Peace.com My family and I had a wonderful time at the World Peace Festival in Amenia, NY. Several thousand people attended. Some of the wonderful highlights were the World Peace Prayer Society's wonderful Flag Ceremony in which the flags of the world are presented by children one by one. It was a very beautiful and moving experience, which ended with everyone putting their ear to Mother Earth and feeling the life bond that joins us all. Pete Seeger made a guest appearance, inspiring the crowds with some of his peace songs. Our friend Alan Moore was there, too, and my 8 year old daughter was thrilled at being able to let a butterfly fly up into the rainy skies. The crowd that gathered around was visibly moved and inspired as Alan recited the Earth Proclamation and spoke about the efforts of the Earth Rainbow Network and the huge movement that is arising from every direction to utilize the year 2000 as an opportunity to transform our global community. Bio: Robert Silverstein is the author of over 40 published books, including the coauthor (with Steve Diamond) of One Day In Peace, January 1. This book helped inspire a global movement for a worldwide day of peace on January 1, 2000. As the co-director of the One Day In Peace campaign, he coordinated a network of over 1000 organizations in 140 nations that planned events and activities to welcome the new millennium with a worldwide day of peace. Since 1/1/2000 the United States Congress passed a resolution declaring every January 1 as a day of peace and sharing and the United Nations adopted a resolution inviting the world to begin each year as One Day In Peace. Please see www.butterflyspirit.org/projects/one_day_in_peace.html Bob is the Communications Manager of The Lifebridge Foundation, and the UN NGO Representative for The Lifebridge Foundation and Pathways To Peace. Bob's stories for young people can be found at PeaceKidz.com and his songs for peace on earth can be found at Songs4Peace.com. Robert is also the author of We Want Peace On Earth: A Guide for the Peace on Earth Movement -- a free online book, and the producer of a CD of 12 peace songs by 12 artists also called We Want Peace On Earth! (WeWantPeaceOnEarth.com) Bob hopes to produce many more CDs of peace songs on his People For Peace Project label. These CDs are being used to help peace groups raise funds, while giving royalties to the artists, creating a win-win situation for everyone, and furthering our shared hope for peace on earth. |
