Musicians and Artists for Peace Fontain Riddle - Productions and Art Director Bio: Fontain Riddle: Lyrics, arrangements, vocals, bass, electric sitar, joia, gongs, guitar Fontain has been playing music and singing since she was mini-diva. She grew up in the Washington, D.C. area with her five brothers, all Jazz musicians. Her family had formed close bonds with several Indian and Pakistani families in the neighborhood and a few of them were classical Indian musicians. On summer nights, after snacking on homemade spicy pakoras and masala tea, the families listened to each other play evening ragas with voices, sitars, harmoniums, tablas and sarodes. Everyone was encouraged to join in the music, especially young Fontain. Her family eventually moved away, but the seed of eastern music was planted deep in her heart. Earning her BFA at Ringling School of Art, near the training grounds for Ringling Brothers Circus, she was inspired by the circus life style and exotic customs and costumes of the traveling artists. She could not juggle, so she developed her skills in singing, guitar and writing lyrics and comedy skits. While she was a student, once a week was not enough "performing time" in the local open mike contests although she won them often with original songs and performances. She became an Eastern Onion Singing Telegram girl. She performed three to ten telegrams each day racing around town in a van full of costumes, ranging from "tap dancing cake" to "Wonder Woman". She interpreted the canned scripts and songs, re-wrote, and submitted new compositions the company still uses today. A natural travel bug, she has made her way across forty-one states performing in variety show productions and novelty acts. On the road with Crazy Joe and the Rage, she performed and invented characters and comedy lyrics to spice up her time "doing time" as a top 40 cover band member. All writer/performers want more, more. She left the USA to find more in England, France, Thai Land, Malaysia, and Singapore. Writing, introspecting and studying, she found the music that was deeply Fontain. She returned with stories to tell. She returned to form Fontain's M.U.S.E. now performing many kinds of venues in the San Francisco Bay Area. She performs her original music, live for a play called Magique Bazaar. Majinga the Magician performs his spirited magic as Fontain's M.U.S.E. provides the audio atmosphere. The show is new and different every month, so the challenge for this vocalist, musician and writer will ever flow unto itself like the fountain that is Fontain's M.U.S.E

Amrita Cottrell Thanks for all the wonderful work you are doing. I am really interested in the Project Chrysalis Project. Can you send me more information? I feel that it is a perfect fit with the healing music work that I do, and I would like to incorporate it into the vision for the Center of Harmonic Healing that I am in the process of creating. I don't know if you have read the vision for this, but it is on my website. Here's the link to it. http://www.healingmusic.org/Main/Center.htm Bio: Amrita Cottrell is the Founder and Director of The Healing Music Organization and the Center of Harmonic Living in Santa Cruz County, California. Her vision for the Center of Harmonic Living includes creating an altruistic community on nearly 100 acres near Felton in the Santa Cruz mountains. It would consist of individuals exploring the worlds of spirituality, art, education, and science, and how these areas relate to wellness, peace, sustainability, and harmony. Please see http://www.healingmusic.org/Center/Location.htm She is currently writing her first book, Graceful Amazon, which chronicles her incredible healing journey from two bouts of breast cancer in the last five years. Through emotional release assisted by the power of sound and music, Amrita was able to eradicate two tumors from her breast within six weeks' time. The doctors sent her home from the hospital after they found that no surgery was necessary telling her to, "keep doing whatever it is you are doing." Utilizing the healing power of music through crystal bowls, bells, voice, didgeridoo, drums, harp and various other interesting instruments, Amrita and her musical partner, Sage, facilitate individual and group healing sessions across the country. They have has just released their first CD of healing music called "Entering Deviation." Amrita believes that the music she creates weaves heaven and earth through threads of healing sound. Her lectures and demonstrations provide both the scientific evidence, as well as practical guidelines on how to bring the body, mind and spirit into alignment with the healer within. Amrita has created one of the leading educational and informational websites on healing with sound and music (www.healingmusic.org). She has also created a virtual community through the Healing Music egroup and the Healing Music Association with nearly 100 members from around the globe. His voyage has included formal training in Psychology and Religious Studies (California State University, 1985). Since completing his formal education, he has spent the last 16 years independently researching the dimensions and states of human awareness, the dynamics of healing and wholeness, and the essential qualities of being. AJ's approach to research is experiential and shamanic. His organic path of investigation has included ways of indigenous wisdom, such as the Mayan Solar Initiation, various forms of Medicine Wheel practice, and the sacramental use entheogenic plants. He is also knowledgeable both with astronomy and astrology. As an introspective adventurer, AJ has discovered inspiration in a broad range of spiritual perspectives. Through almost two and a half decades of practice, he has developed a fluency with the vibratory language that speaks quietly in the qualitative peculiarities of all forms and conditions. Zen, shamanism, the teachings of Christ and the Buddha are all strongly revered for the experiential blessings they have provided him. The benefits of AJ's research are applied through his work as a counselor and minister. His experience in this capacity presently exceeds 15 years (lay ministry 1979-1986, accepted ordination by the Universal Life Church, 1994). AJ McGettigan is an adventurer-ontologist-storyteller, and an activist for the exploration of consciousness. Using philosophy and poetry in a practical and encouraging way, he addresses the difficulties we face in our world today. He has no dogma to apply, but he sincerely hopes to magnify a conversation that more fully and creatively expresses the beauty of the living universe in which we all participate. AJ McGettigan is an independent publisher, creator of the Vibrational Voyage radio program, author of A Voyage in Consciousness, and the originator of Experiential Cosmology. Mary Devlin Dear Alan, I am honored to accept the invitation to be on your Board. I believe in what you're doing, and I firmly believe that the more of us that join forces and embrace our vision of a New Age, the closer we'll all be to our goals. I look forward to meeting with you in November and discussing the various visions that are all coming together at this time. Thank you very much for thinking of me. Blessings, Mary Devlin Bio: Author/singer MARY DEVLIN is quite well known in the fields of astrology and New Age thought. She is a certified Professional Member of the American Federation of Astrologers, and was trained by Marcia Moore in karmic astrology and past-life regression. Mary's many published works include books such as I AM MARY SHELLEY, ASTROLOGY AND PAST LIVES and ASTROLOGY AND RELATIONSHIPS, and YOUR FUTURE LIVES, and the recently-released THE PSYCHOLOGY OF SPIRIT, as well as a significant number of magazine articles. She has had a passion for medieval studies almost since she learned to read. A BA in English, she specialized in the heroic and medieval ages, including study of Chaucer and other medieval poets. Her current works in progress include Medieval Music, Magical Minds, a study of medieval music and its pagan metaphysical background, and Tarot of theRishis, a combination book and Tarot card deck based on Hindu mythology, in conjunction with noted San Francisco artist Steven Johnson Leyba. Mysteries have been a passion for Mary since she discovered Nancy Drew at the age of eight, and were expanded to romantic suspense when, in high school, she became an avid fan of Victoria Holt and Mary Stewart. Her love of medieval studies and her enthusiasm for mysteries eventually led her to Ellis Peters, Edward Marston, Candace Robb, Sharan Newman, and Peter Tremayne. She decided to make a detective out of noted poet/astrologer Geoffrey Chaucer, and the result is the short story contained in CONUNDRUM and the first in a series of mystery novels featuring Chaucer, Murder on the Canterbury Pilgrimage, which is now available through amazon.com and in your favorite bookstores. A second Chaucer mystery, The Knight's Tale, is now in the works. Another of Mary's mysteries is Portrait of Victorine, a novel of romantic suspense set in the contemporary Paris art world. A trained actress and screenwriter, Ms. Devlin studied acting at Estelle Harman's Academy and screenwriting under Travis Pike in Los Angeles and Ken Valentine at San Francisco's Film Arts Foundation. While living in Los Angeles from 1977 through 1989, she appeared on stage in Moonchildren and in several films, including And Now for the Murder written, produced and directed by Carl Binder. She also wrote and produced William the Conqueror, a historical docudrama, as well as a documentary on firewalking and a number of music videos. Ms. Devlin is also an accomplished vocalist. Classically trained in both opera and bel canto, she was a folk singer for a number of years before discovering medieval and Renaissance music. An Anglophile who divides her time between London and the San Francisco Bay Area, she performed for several years with a London-based medieval ensemble called The Lion Tree, and at the same time maintained a solo career concentrating on songs of the Elizabethan period. She was highly praised for her performances for the London Film Festival, and her work has been featured on both radio and television. Presently she directs the Sherwood Consort, a medieval ensemble which has recently produced and performed a revival of the medieval comic opera, Le Gieus de Robin et Marion. In addition to singing, she plays lute, gittern, and harp, and played the role of one of the musicians in Le Gieus de Robin et Marion. The Consort has released two CDs, Between March and April: Music of Medieval England, and Robin Loves Me: The Legend of Robin and Marion. Both CDs have received good reviews. Other CD projects now in the works include One Day as I went Riding, a collection of motets and troubadour and trouvère songs from medieval France, and Monk, Take Thy Foot Away, a collection of medieval pieces by women poets and composers and the men who loved them. From 1999 to 2001, Ms. Devlin sang with the Women's Antique Vocal Ensemble (WAVE), directed by Cindy Beitman, a group specializing in medieval and Renaissance sacred music. She has also studied and performed with Shira Kammen, Joel Cohen, Anne Azema, and the Oakland Symphony Chorus. Ms. Devlin is also an amateur painter, primarily influenced by and interested in the Impressionists. She has traveled all over the world, from Mexico to Australia to Kenya to all parts of Europe, and has spent a considerable amount of time in Paris, France. She is the mother of two sons, Thomas and Allan Dye, both accomplished musicians and award-winning cartoonists, and a daughter, Laura Meador, a real estate management specialist. Ms. Devlin currently lives in Richmond, California, with her son Thomas, their housemate and colleague Tim Rayborn, and two cats, Cricket and Draupadi. Xeno Rasmusson, Ph.D. Roberta Donnay
Craig Hordlo Bio: Craig Hordlow is the CEO of Communitymusician.com, a company that unites musicians in order to foster a sense of community among artists. Craig has been a musician in San Francisco for the past five years and plays regularly in and around the Bay Area. sfmusician.com is...a place where the local music community has a voice,
enabling musicians to be seen and heard by their peers our story For over a year, Community Musician operated out of four percent juice's rehearsal space (see photo), until the fateful day when a mass eviction of San Francisco musicians turned the music scene upside down, forcing the relocation of mission headquarters to an office adjacent to Golden Gate Park. (Local musicians often drop in for a visit, and we invite you to do the same if you're ever in the neighborhood!) Community Musician grew slowly and organically, keeping the operation lean and simple. We wondered whether we were being left behind by other Internet companies, who were taking a more ambitious corporate approach. But as the story goes, it was the turtle that won the race. Today, most of those aggressive Internet companies that recklessly raised ridiculous amounts of money have, like a blowfish swimming through a narrow coral reef, popped and imploded. Community Musician has local musicians helping out in every town, and if you'd like to get involved, send an e-mail to craig@communitymusician.com the co-operative Stessa Thompson Bio: Stessa Thompson has committed her life work to inspire health, sustainability and creativity. She is the original founder of Global Retreats Inc., an information portal whose mission is to support Quality of Life resources by providing the largest network of retreats and speakers in the world. Ms. Thompson has worked as Assistant and Associate Producer for over 200 large and small events. She was international liaison to foreign delegates for the Monterey Bay International Trade Association and formed distribution channels for natural products to Asia, Australia, and New Zealand for her previous company, Thompson & Associates. Currently, Ms. Thompson is forming Gaia Song Foundation whose mission is to produce conferences, forums, seminars, workshops, hands-on training, film, music, entertainment and media to train, educate and inspire healthy lifestyles and sustainability practices. She is now planning a conference for 2002, on Ecological Building, Sustainable Living and Community Models and a documentary film project on sustainable communities. She has most recently been consultant to large land developers researching and developing plans to implement alternative energy sources in their housing projects, and is consultant to retreat centers for business development and marketing. Ms. Thompson holds a Masters degree in Cultural Anthropology from the University of California. She has lived and traveled in over 12 countries, where she had the opportunity to experience first hand indigenous practices in art, religion, and community. She wrote ethnographies for University of California and Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta, Indonesia while studying Indonesian dance and language. She is also a certified hypnotherapist and has developed course work for massage and hypnotherapy practitioners implementing pranic healing techniques. She is a dance choreographer, performance artist and writer.
I am definitely interested in what you are doing. However, my schedule is a bit crazy right now, as many of my ideas are becoming projects which have me on the road a great deal. I am meeting with the kids from Sound Sector 9 on Thursday and we are going to see how to combine the experiential concepts of the work i do with their music and art as the experience. Incredible inspiration has been flowing since Tamarack. I'll let you know how things develop. thanks for keeping me in mind. Blessings, Dominic Kevin Greene Kevin is an activist and visionary living in Davis. He has some very interetsing ideas and has been working on a vast personal plan for a music center and youth development retreat/sound studio.
