Spirit Aid Invitation

The Event
Spirit Aid is a live event that will take place in a 60,000 seat stadium in Glasgow, Scotland on July 20th and July 21st 2002.

It will be beamed live to the world on TV, radio and via the internet.

It will have an expected audience of 1 billion people.

Whilst raising in excess of £100 million for charities around the world, Spirit Aid will create inspiration in people's lives. It will demonstrate how through the power of the human spirit we can lead happy and abundant lives, free from fear, poverty and injustice.

Spirit Aid is about a celebration of life, fun, laughter; the inherent goodness in people to show love, compassion, forgiveness and kindness.

Music
The centre piece of the event will naturally be the live music performances. We are inviting many of the world's best known bands, singers, and musicians to take part.

Messages
The messages will be given by children, world leaders, international celebrities, and authors that will reflect the essence and spirit of this special event. We are inviting the world's most prominent peacemakers, spiritual teachers and religious leaders of all faiths.

And Maybe even Miracles The miracle of the weekend will be the millions of people around the globe pledging and raising the many millions of pounds that will be used to help the poor and underprivileged of our planet, those
devastated by war, hunger
and persecution in our midst.

Children
Children of the world will be a major feature of the event, as they express their hopes and dreams for the world they wish to inherit and the respect and equality they deserve now. Their stories will be told. The artists and world leaders taking part will be led on stage and introduced by these children.

World Peace Village
We intend also to create a 'World Peace Village' in our city for one week leading up to the event for all cultures of the world to meet and celebrate through music, discussion and workshops.

We are inviting the group of indigenous Tribal Elders who are attached to the United Nations to make live declarations of intent on our behalf to safeguard the badly damaged and fragile Eco systems of our world before it is too late.

Constantly throughout the weekend, beamed in by satellite will be reports of the many miracles and signs of hope that are happening daily around us in all cultures of the world, stressing that we are all one on our journey on this planet.

It will be about our commonality not our differences!
It will be about our generosity not our greed!
It will be about our love not our hate!
It will be about our future not our past!

The event will simply be about the positive effects and a new awareness that millions of us acting together will achieve in creating a better world for our children's future.

Be the Change
Spirit Aid is more than a global event and a leading charity; it is also a catalyst to inspire people to make a positive difference in the world.

Everyone in the world is empowered to make a difference; how, what, where and when is entirely up to you.

In our world it is the one voice, the common collective choice that will make a difference forever.

We must be the change we wish to see.

Spirit Aid Charity
Spirit Aid, the charity, will manage distribution of the funds created from the event.

The funds will be distributed within the following areas.

Children International Aid Health
Education Environment Caring
Homeless Land Mines Peace
Refugees Human Rights Fair Trade
Aged Spiritual Development Ethics

For the distribution, a team of charitable experts within each area will determine which projects to fund.

As well as the usual Patrons, Trustees, and Directors that make up an organisational structure of a charity, Spirit Aid will also appoint a number of Ambassadors and Envoys.

Ambassadors will be individuals in recognised public positions of responsibility who have the desire and influence to further the objectives of the charity. Envoys can be anyone in the world who chooses to formally act on behalf of Spirit Aid.

The Spirit Aid board of Directors will appoint Ambassadors. Envoys will be self-appointed.

The Spirit Aid charity will be accountable to everyone in the world since its main fundraising exercise is a global event. The internet will be used as a vehicle to show the monies received, overheads incurred and the levels of distribution made. An open book policy on all accounting issues will be employed.

An Invitation to Humanity
We all live on a stunning blue-green planet, our Mother Earth. She has breathtaking beauty and a startling diversity of life. She provides everything, that we need to sustain us, as she floats in a remote spiral of the Milky Way.

There are over 6 billion humans alive on earth at this point.

For a minority life is good, it is fruitful. The years from birth to death offer what every life should. It is safe, it is comfortable; laughter and abundance are part of daily life.

There is health and happiness, creativity and honest endeavour. Freedom of expression - personal, political, creative, and spiritual - are accepted and acknowledged. Human Rights and democratic freedoms are regarded as normal.

However, for the vast majority of us on our planet - billions of people - life is constant hell on earth. It is a fierce and brutal struggle for survival.

Fear is the most powerful force in the lives of these people.

Billions of people live with poverty as a reality - two billion of them earn less than one dollar a day.

In the United Kingdom alone, 11-13 million people live below the poverty line, including 2 out of every 5 children. This is a rich, developed, Western country of 56 million people, not a drought stricken, war ravaged far away place.

Hundreds of millions worldwide face the daily threat of persecution, abuse and even annihilation. These millions have no access to any form of justice, let alone safety.

Fifty million people have been displaced by war and ethnic conflict. Their homes, their communities, the very fabric of their lives destroyed by horrific acts of violence. Their cultures are barely intact as they struggle for survival and dignity in vast refugee camps - if they are lucky enough to find one.

Countless millions of others live at the mercy of the constantly changing and unpredictable extremes of weather, geological upheavals, and environmental swings that are increasing at an alarming rate. Due to the systematic destruction of the fragile ecosystems of our home, caused by industrial and consumer greed around the world, all of us are now facing this prospect.

For example, 13 million tonnes of toxic chemicals are released into the atmosphere every day. 130 species are driven to extinction every day. 200,000 acres of rainforest are destroyed every day.

There is a large and growing body of opinion within the world's scientific community that believes, at this rate of depletion we face the extinction of our entire species within a few generations.

Children
At the heart of all the desolation, deprivation, and unnecessary deaths in our midst are the children - New Young Life - our investment in the future of our species and our planet.

Young and innocent, they are alive with hopes and dreams for the richness and excitement of lives that lie ahead of them. They dream of the safety that should be theirs by right, of care, nurturing and support that all lives need. They dream of respect and dignity.

It is a dream held in the very heartbeat of every child.
It is a yearning for the love of humankind.

Every year, 130 million young lives are created.

14 million of them will starve to death.
1 million of them will be sold into sex slavery.
2.2 million of them will end up living on the streets of our cities.
31 million will have no access to safe drinking water.
Over half a million of them will contract AIDS.
13 million of them will be orphaned by AIDS.
26,000 people will be killed by landmines, the majority of them children.
In conflict, two children die for every soldier.

The shattering of innocence continues.

Hope
But there is Hope. People around the world are beginning to awaken and realise that we cannot continue to destroy life the way we do. That we live on this planet together.

There is a huge and growing movement in the world that believes that life is sacred. All life. That each life is a gift of creation. That even though we do not own our children or the children of the world, it is the responsibility of each and every adult to nurture that life to the best of our knowledge, and our skills, and our wisdom.

We must believe and accept that each new life deserves respect for the very gift that it is.

We are all the guardians of future life on this planet and we should never forget, we do not inherit the earth from our parents, we borrow it from our children.

Let us at least strive to give back to them a planet that is healthy and abundant and clean.

Together we can choose to give back to them a world where peace prevails over violence.

Where compassion prevails over inhumanity.
Where kindness prevails over greed.
Where justice prevails over abuse.
Where learning prevails over ignorance.
Where truth prevails over secrecy.
Where freedom prevails over slavery.
Where laughter prevails over tears.

We can make a choice to care - to change the moral concept of the world we live in. We can make that choice today.

Together we can set in motion the change that will transform the future of our planet and the future for our children.

It is very simple.
Let us choose Love and not Fear.

My name is David Hamilton and I am one of the organisers of Spirit Aid and the World Peace Village being held in Scotland next year.

Thank you so much for your beautiful messages - your words are filled with passion for bringing peace to the earth. I honour all the work that you and your friends are doing.

Please accept our apologies for not replying sooner - we have been so busy over the last few days and are only now having the chance to reply to e-mails.

Firstly, we would love to have Musicians & Fine Artists for World Peace contribute to Spirit Aid. I get goosebumps just thinking about it. I love all the work you are involved in and fully support it - what beautiful projects, Butterfly Gardeners and Project Chrysalis. Perhaps we can link you with the Spirit Aid website when its fully active. The Earth Proclamation gives me shivers too - I am about to send it to everyone I know.

Asquali,

Thank you for coming and being our friend and in honor of all your work for the peoples of the world. I have met some of your speakers and presenters over the years. It would be an honor to be there and hopefuly join in prayers and teachings of the Triditional Hopi and Lakota or even bring our Sacred Fire over with the Keepers of the Seventh Fire of Peace. We had the honor to do this for the Hauge Appeal for Peace and also the "World Peace, Inner Peace" Confrence.

As experienced Butterfly Spirits, we always are at the begining of time and experriences, although sometimes we have a story or something we can Share. It was wonderful being with you all in Den Hauge, Lets see how and if it is possible for our efforts to help and support your vision.
